The premiere of the 69th Filmfare Awards began in Gujarat on Saturday with a ceremony that saw Sam Bahadur winning in three technical categories including Best Sound Design, Best Costume Design and Best Production Design. Actors Aparshakti Khurana and Karishma Tanna hosted the curtain-raising ceremony of the 69th Filmfare Awards, during which the winners of technical categories including cinematography, costumes and production design were announced. Ganesh Acharya won the Best Choreography Award for his work on the track What Jhumka? from Rocky and Rani Kii Prem Kahani. 12th Fail took home the award for Best Film, while Jawan by SRK was the clear winner for Best VFX and Best Action.
Animal took the honors for Best Background Music and the Best Sound Design Award was shared by Animal and Sam Bahadur.
Before the big event, Bollywood stars were seen at the Mumbai airport before heading to Ahmedabad to attend the Filmfare event. Kapoor sisters Kareena and Karisma, Badlapur actor Varun Dhawan and Animal director Sandeep Reddy Vanga were photographed by the paparazzi at the airport. Earlier this month, a Filmfare Awards press conference was held in Mumbai, which was attended by Karan Johar and actors Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor.
Talking about Filmfare nominations this year, Sandeep Reddy Vanga's hit film Animal leads the class with 19 nominations in sections including Popular Awards, Critics' Awards and Technical Awards. Shah Rukh Khan and Ranbir Kapoor competed against each other for the Best Actor award for their films Animal and Jawan, Dunki respectively.
In 2020, Alia Bhatt won the Best Actor award and during her acceptance speech she mentioned Ranbir and said, “Thank you for making my heart smile and my eyes shine, I love you.” Today, during her red carpet appearance, she was asked about the same thing. "Good! He still makes my eyes shine and my heart smile, so we've come a long way, but he's still the same and that's what makes him special,” said Bhatt while responding to her epic love confession.
Ranbir Kapoor's name marked the usual suspects, father Rishi Kapoor and daughter Raha, in his acceptance speech at the Filmfare Awards held in Gujarat last night. Ranbir Kapoor, who won the Best Actor award for his film Animal, dedicated the award to his father and his daughter. A fan page shared a video of the actor receiving the award from him. In his speech, the Rockstar actor can be heard saying: "Every day I think of you, I remember you and everything I feel for you... the love, the affection I try to channel through this part and I hope you are up there in peace and rest,” he stated.
Bollywood actor Janhvi Kapoor looked ethereal in an off-shoulder black dress. She paired her look with a diamond necklace and loose curls. Where Medha can be seen in a bright red saree, Vikrant opted for a clean look with a white and black tuxedo.
Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan also arrived at the Filmfare red carpet. He can be seen wearing black pants. The cricketer stopped and posed for the paparazzi at the event.
