The pursuit of happiness is the theme of existence and more than ever in difficult times there are questions about what is the recipe, the place, the way of life that can help to be happy. Here are my keys which has opened the doors of the temple of a better life.
Connecting with people
Helping others is not only good for me and a good thing to do, it also makes me happier as it connects me to others to helping create stronger communities and build a happier society for all. Close relationships with family and friends provide love, support and enhance my feelings of self.
Appreciating the world around me
Being active makes me happier. My early morning exercises instantly improve my mood. In the evening after a long days work, I simply unplug myself from technology, and sit outdoors gazing at the stars and sometimes gasping at the flying star, which instantly gives me happiness. It also helps me to tune into my feelings and prevent my mind from dwelling on the past or worrying about the future.
Travelling the world
Travelling around the world and learning new things influences my health in many positive ways as it exposes me to new ideas and helps me stay curious and engaged. It also gives me a sense of accomplishment and helps increase my self-esteem and resistance through positive emotions like joy, gratitude, contentment, inspiration and pride.
Eating my way to pleasure
A good way to start the day for me is eating the right things because what we eat has a direct influence on our mood and well-being. In order to feel fit, calm and energetic, even though my daily routine does not always help, I never stay away from chocolates, which elevates my mood instantly and gives a sense of well-being and a positive effect on my mood. Chocolate for me is very important, which is linked to my childhood and eases the emotional sphere that occurs in difficult times.
On a broader scale I have a breakfast of whole wheat bread and jam, cereal, dry fruits and walnuts in particular, fresh fruits and good juices. My lunch is always full of fresh seasonal vegetables and fish. During the day, I have lots of fruits, juices and centrifuges. I drink at least 1.5 to 2 litres of water a day.
I’m fine the way I am
Nobody's perfect. But often we compare our inner aspects with the external aspects of other people. I have learnt to not ruminate about my defects but accept myself as I am which increases my zest for life, strength and well-being. Doing so also helps me to accept others as they are.
Happiness and wellbeing depend, therefore, very much on the context in which we are immersed, a context on which however, our own mind influences a lot. Dealing with a pure complex situation, does not always mean that it is complicated but the solution lies in making a new awareness and gain a new vision.
This awareness would lead us to consider both the context in relation to the mind, the mind in relation to the context. Thought builds the world and within it is conceived. The reality, therefore, affects our quality of life, but it is a reality that we ourselves help to build. Do not worry, be happy with life, after all, it is not as complicated as it sounds. Happiness is not the destination but the journey that takes you to this.
